Sea of Conquest setup: the honest answer is you need nothing

Sea of Conquest: Pirate War runs on a 930 MB client and barely touches your hardware. Here is the one accessory that helps, and the five that don't.

TL;DR

Any phone that can run iOS 15 or a mid-range Android handset runs Sea of Conquest: Pirate War fine — the client is under a gigabyte and the game is a base builder with cutscenes, not an action game. Buy nothing. If you play alliance events away from a charger, one power bank is the whole shopping list.

Official requirements

Sea of Conquest: Pirate War is developed and published by FunPlus International AG. We confirmed the exact title and the publisher name directly from the App Store listing, which is the publisher’s own submission.

There is no native Windows client. FunPlus’s PC availability runs through Google Play Games on PC, which has its own published requirement list — so that list, not a FunPlus spec sheet, is what applies on desktop.

Mobile (official listing) PC via Google Play Games
OS iOS 15.0 or later Windows 10 (v2004)
CPU — 4 physical cores (min) · 8 logical (rec)
RAM — 8 GB
GPU — Intel UHD Graphics 630 or comparable
Storage 930.7 MB download SSD, 10 GB free
Other — Admin account, hardware virtualisation on

Two honest notes about that table.

The Android column is missing on purpose. We could not load the Google Play listing, and APK mirror sites are not an official source no matter how convenient their numbers are. It sits in verify until someone reads it off the Play Store.

The PC “requirement” is a wrapper, not the game. That 8 GB of RAM and 10 GB of SSD are Google’s floor for running Android apps on Windows at all. Sea of Conquest itself asks for a fraction of it. If you clear the Google Play Games bar, you are not going to find the limit of this game.

What the minimum spec actually gives you: the whole game. There is no high-end experience being withheld from you. A base builder with a fixed camera, turn-resolved naval battles and menu-driven progression does not have a graphics setting that rewards better silicon. The visual ceiling is low by design, because FunPlus wants this running on a five-year-old handset in fifty countries.

The real bottleneck

It is not your hardware. It is screen-on time.

Sea of Conquest is played in long, shallow sessions: you queue a build, you read alliance chat, you watch a sailing animation, you queue another build. The phone is awake and the display is lit for forty minutes while the CPU does almost nothing. That is the opposite shape from an action gacha, and it changes which problem is worth money.

  • Battery drain here is a display problem, not a compute problem. Lowering the brightness does more than any accessory.
  • Heat is a non-issue. You will not thermally throttle a base builder. If your phone gets hot playing this game, something else is wrong — a background app, a bad charger, or direct sunlight.
  • Storage is a non-issue. Under a gigabyte. This is the only game in our setup coverage where you do not need to think about free space.
  • Latency is a non-issue. There is no input you can lose a fight by mistiming. Combat resolves on the server.

Which leaves exactly one real constraint: if you are coordinating an alliance event on a train or during a lunch break, you will run the battery down. That is a solvable problem, and it costs about fifty dollars.

What’s worth buying

One product. Not three — one, because the game does not justify more and padding this section would be dishonest.

A 10,000 mAh power bank with an attached cable. See the card above for the verdict and, more importantly, the four things wrong with it. Note the last one: it does not make the game run better. Nothing makes this game run better, because it already runs.

If you already own a power bank, you are done. Close the tab.

Short list, because there is little to tune.

  1. Turn the graphics preset down one notch and never think about it again. You will not see the difference on a 6-inch screen through a fixed isometric camera, and you will claw back battery.
  2. Drop screen brightness to the lowest you can read comfortably. This is the biggest single lever on session length. It is free.
  3. Disable battle animations where the game allows it. Skipping naval combat playback saves both time and power, and the outcome is already decided.
  4. Turn off background app refresh for the game. Alliance notifications are useful; constant background polling is what drains the battery while the game is closed.
  5. On PC, cap the frame rate in the Google Play Games settings. There is no reason to render this game at your monitor’s full refresh rate and spin your laptop fans for it.

What’s a waste of money

This is the most useful section in the article, so here is the full list.

A gaming phone. A 165 Hz display, a built-in vapour chamber and shoulder triggers do nothing for a game with no twitch input and a fixed camera. Buying a ROG or RedMagic handset for Sea of Conquest is the clearest example of hardware solving a problem the game does not have.

A mobile controller. We cannot find any controller support in the App Store listing, and the game is menu-and-tap by design. A clamp pad would be dead weight.

An active phone cooler. There is no sustained thermal load to fight. You would be strapping a fan to a problem that does not exist.

A graphics card upgrade for the PC version. Google’s own recommended GPU for Google Play Games on PC is a GeForce MX450 — an entry-level laptop part from 2020. That is the ceiling of what the wrapper asks for. Anything above it is idle.

An SSD upgrade for a 930 MB game. Yes, Google Play Games requires an SSD. No, the game does not benefit from a fast one.

A second device “for farming”. This is the purchase players in strategy gachas regret most. A cheap tablet bought to run a second account is a recurring maintenance chore, often against the game’s terms, and the hardware sits in a drawer within three months. If you want a second account, run it on the phone you already own.

Premium charging cables. A 240 W braided cable charges a phone exactly as fast as a $6 one, because the phone sets the limit.

FAQ

Can I play Sea of Conquest on PC without an emulator? Not with a FunPlus-made Windows client — there isn’t one. The official desktop route is the Google Play Games on PC listing, which is Google’s own Android runtime rather than a third-party emulator. Third-party emulators also work, but they are not the official path and we would not recommend one over Google’s.

Is my five-year-old phone too old? Almost certainly not. The iOS floor is iOS 15, which covers iPhone 6s-era hardware upward on Apple’s side. The Android floor is in our verify list, but a 930 MB strategy client is not where old phones go to die.

Does cross-progression work between phone and PC? Because the PC version is the same Android build running through Google Play Games on your Google account, it is the same install target rather than a separate port. Bind your account in-game before you switch devices regardless — that is good practice for any live-service game and costs nothing.

What is the one thing I should change before my next session? Screen brightness. Not a purchase. In a game where the phone is awake for forty minutes and working for forty seconds of it, the display is the whole power budget, and you control it for free.
